Camping in Kentucky

For Labor day weekend we decided it would be fun to take a family camping trip, the weather had been nice and we thought it would be the perfect time to go.  Plus we had never all been camping together.

All loaded up in the car we drove about 4 hours to Kentucky where a friend said there is some great camp grounds right on the lake.

Along the way we made a little detour and visited my Grandma Joyce and her husband Charlie in Peducah.  Grandma Joyce is my dad's stepmom and we hadn't seen her in a long time.  As always she had a huge hot lunch prepared for us and showered us with gifts.  It was great to see them and they were very glad we came.

Sam teaching Mason how to build a fire.

And Mason lighting the match.

The kids roasting their marshmallows, they didn't want to get any closer, it was so HOT...not just the fire, the weather was not what we had expected and we just about died in the heat.

Enjoying their smores.

We had pancakes one morning and with the left over batter Sam made this huge pancake, Taylor got a kick out of it, she did take a bite or two .

At the beach at the Lake, I think she looks cute in a hat.

Sam and Mason fishing, they didn't catch anything, but I think they still enjoyed it.

The girls looking along at the boys fishing....do you see how wet we look, SERIOUSLY SO HOT!

Overall it was a great trip, besides the heat I think the kids had fun, they don't even notice the heat.  I think they were able to create some great memories though.

Man, it does look like it was hot! I forgot that you were going to stop at Gma Joyce's house on the way. What was the meal you had? And you were showered with gifts, huh? I bet she was so happy you came.
